9 things I did last year: BBC nut kissing, electronics manufacturing & Spotify EP launch

1. Launched my first electronics hardware product

We finally launched AMCO's first 100% designed and owned hardware product - an alarm communicator called Com3+1, part of our LiveTalk service.  Everyone says hardware is hard - and our journey proved no different, taking c.30 months (18 months more than projected).

2. Appeared on BBC breakfast

I relished the opportunity to ask BBC presenter Charlie Stayt to 'kiss my nuts' live on Saturday Breakfast in early October as part of our Peckham Conker Championship promo.  Was just too tempting & resulted in a healthy amount of breakfast backlash across the Tabloids and most unexpectedly, we sold c.£1000 worth of merch in 15 mins (mostly people buying the Classic Conker Club Tee I was wearing). The power of TV’s not dead yet . . . You can watch a clip of the appearance here.

3. Created my first injection mould

As part of our LiveTalk product suite we designed a Speaker / Microphone unit and got it ready for large-scale manufacturing.  I'd never appreciated how this is done, but discovered the need to create an 'injection mould' - which is basically a mould carved out of metal, a process that takes a painstaking 40 days end-to-end to 'tool'. We obviously got it wrong multiple times, but our Chinese manufacturing partner was super helpful along the journey.

4. Grew Peckham Conker Championships to over 1000 people

Following my mild obsession with putting on random events, I've slowly grown Peckham Conker Championships into something of an Autumnal Nutty juggernaut, with 1000 people taking part in this year's Championships, a tonne of buzz & healthy 5 figure sales to match.

5. Designed a new AI assistant (due to Launch Q2)

I spent a good amount of the last 12 months playing around with generative AI, and finally worked out a way it could radically transform AMCO & also be expanded into a wider market-transforming product.  Welcome to SuperPower.Help - the AI assistant that gives field service engineers (the likes of electricians, HVAC and alarm / fire engineers) super powers.  Due for launch in Q2 2025. Everything’s going to AI powered - including the Logo . . .

6. Invented and launched a new kids game

After a successful 2023 Conker Season, Catherine pointed out that if I wanted to create a sustainable / profitable long term business out of the Peckham Conker Club then I needed to create a version of 'conkers' that wasn't reliant on an actual organic nut (for various & mildly obvious reasons).  So I went off and created Bonkers Conkers - a quick reaction kids game that can be played all year round, featuring the Nutty Crew aka Conker Cat, Bear Banger and friends.

Watch the game play video here + buy the game here ;-)

7. Built an MVP of a new cyber security service

The growth in cyber crime is something that as the CEO of a security company I couldn't really ignore, and have been thinking about for a while, so I decided to start researching customer needs, existing solutions and understand the opportunities.  The first part of AMCO's upcoming cyber security service is called UsVsBad.com - a one-stop-shop for all tips and tricks for keeping you safe online.  More to come in Q1 2025.

8. Wrote and published 4 EPs on Spotify

2024 was the year I launched my music career - writing, recording (sort of) and publishing x4 EPs on Spotify.  All the tunes I wrote are (obviously) all Conker-themed.  My thinking was that conkers and Autumn is an underserved time of year for music and celebration.  If there's Christmas No.1's and Summer Anthems, where should there be an Autumnal Banger?!

I also created a series specifically to promo my Bonkers Conkers kids game, along with a whole bunch of trippy music videos for social channels featuring the Nutty Crew. Blow your mind and listen to bangers on Spotify here.

9.Started using a notebook (again).

When the rest of the world is moving to AI-powered note-taking productivity tools, I decided to go 100% analogue.  My productivity is now powered by a Moleskin notebook and Uniball Eye Fine Mitsubishi pen.  I now delight in writing my daily tasks, and striking them off with the Mitsubishi.
