PeckhamPixel
What the feck?
PeckhamPixel is London’s smallest public screen dedicated to showcasing art - in pixel form. Simply bluetooth your masterpiece to the PeckhamPixel screen - opposite the Montpelier Pub - and see it in glorious 8bit technicolour.
How to Submit
Submitting and creating pixel art can be done by simply downloading an app and transferring your art via bluetooth.
N.B. this only works on Android (not iOS / Apple devices).
1. Download the app(s) from Google Play by searching ‘ledpixelart’. N.B. there are three apps available 'PIXEL editor’ which lets you create your own art, ‘PIXEL LED ART’ which has a whole load of pre-created pixel art to choose from and finally ‘PIXEL scrolling text’ which allows you to post scrolling text messages.
2. Stand near the PeckhamPixel screen (so you’re in range of the bluetooth). It’ll appear as ‘PIXEL’.
3. Pair you Android device to the PeckhamPixel screen, using pairing code: 0000
4. Submit your artwork (and the image on the screen should change immediately)
5. Please take a photo of the image and Tweet / instagram @PeckhamPixel #pixelart so we can track submissions
N.B. when using the app, short tap to stream an animation and long tap to write to the screen’s onboard storage for stand alone operation. The last item you write will continue to display on the screen after your device has been disconnected.
Happy pixeling!

About
PeckhamPixel provides Peckham residents (and particularly drinkers and smokers at the Montpelier pub) with some well-deserved 8bit culture.
At 1024 pixels, PeckhamPixel is London’s smallest public screen matched with possibly the worst resolution.
In a city where the new screens of Piccadilly Circus dubbed ‘Piccadilly Lights' are more than 17m high and 44m wide boasting a resolution greater than 4k of 5490 x 2160, PeckhamPixel goes against the grain of screen innovation with a comparatively terrible 32 x 32 resolution.
PeckhamPixel is powered by technology created by Open Gadgets LLC, a Californian start-up dedicated to creating LED art hardware. https://ledpixelart.com/ - first funded via Kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/alinke/pixel-led-art. If you’ve got any questions / are interested in pixel-related collaborations, please email chris AT kittencapital.com.
It’s all about 8bit art NOT 2bit art 😉
